Run for Roses, presented by the Montgomery County Road Runners Club, will be held Saturday June 19, 2021 in Wheaton Regional Park at 8:00 AM (permits pending). This 5K event is for women only and is part of the Maryland Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Women’s Distance Festival (WDF) Grand Prix Series. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in this celebration of women's running that began in 1979 as part of the quest to add women's distance events to the Olympic Games. A virtual option is available for the 2021 race -- run anytime, anywhere, any course!
Parking will be located in the lot next to the Carousel and in the Pine Lake Lot, as needed.
Packet pickup will take place on race morning ONLY and will be located in the dirt turnaround lot at the southern end of the Carousel lot.
** New Course for 2021! ** The course begins on the Wheaton Regional Trail, near the Carousel, where the trail meets Henderson Avenue. Follow the trail to Pine Lake, along the west side of the lake and make a .5 mile loop at the NW corner of Pine Lake, continuing along the north side of the lake, passing the dog park and the Arcola Trail. Proceed along the eastern loop of the Wheaton Regional Trail in a counter-clockwise direction. Upon exiting that loop, cross back over the Arcola Trail, following the Wheaton Regional Trail around the ball fields to the loop on the southwestern side of the trail. Proceed clockwise halfway around that loop to the connector trail, back to Henderson Ave./ Carousel area. The finish is located in the grass next to the trail.
There will be one water stop along the course. Participants will be provided with bottled water at the finish. There will be no additional finish festival or refreshments for the 2021 event. We look forward to bringing back our full event next year!
TIMING, SCORING & AWARDS
